Ladera Ranch is a master-planned community in Orange County, California. The community was constructed in 1999 and is divided into 9 villages. Each village is composed of 10 or more individual neighborhoods, making Ladera Ranch a relatively large community within its 4,000 acres of land. Each village provides a unique living experience for its residents, but the community of Ladera Ranch views itself as a single community. As such, the one gated village within the ranch is open to all card-carrying residents of Ladera Ranch. Many of these villages offer clubhouses with pools, parks, and playgrounds for those who live nearby to enjoy. Covenant Hills Village is the gated community located in the southernmost part of Ladera Ranch. This luxurious village offers residents a nice quiet and private place where they can take in the breathtaking vistas.
The community of Ladera Ranch offers a number of amenities to its residents, including a private skate park and water park, 18 different community parks and even a dog park for residents of Ladera Ranch. There are also a number of smaller pools, plunges, splash pads and parks, local shopping districts and miles of trails meant for both hiking and biking that connect to Doheny Beach. Ladera Ranch sits just outside the city limits of Mission Viejo, San Juan Capistrano, and Rancho Santa Margarita, in the foothills of the Orange County Saddleback.
Ladera Ranch holds a number of activities within its community year round. These events include movie nights, holiday celebrations, and even a month-long summer concert series from July to August. Other notable events include a day-long 4th of July celebration, which includes a live concert, a cupcake bake-off, and even a community parade and group run.
One of the events at Ladera Ranch is the New Homeowners Welcome Reception, meant for the newest residents of the community to get to know the area, as well as their fellow homeowners. The event runs about an hour and a half, with food and beverages provided. There’s also an opportunity for new residents to ask questions, and mingle with other families new to the Ladera Ranch area.
Throughout the year, Ladera Ranch holds a number of events just like these, to help keep residents of the community engaged with their neighbors, while also allowing those who live nearby to participate and co-mingle. Casino nights, the fall harvest festival and a slew of holiday events like holiday decorating contests, visits from Santa, a live nativity scene and a community menorah lighting truly help make the Ladera Ranch community a special place to live year-round.
Located next to a number of outdoor parks and recreational areas, Ladera Ranch is the perfect community for anyone who wants to spend their free time in the great outdoors. Located next to Ladera Ranch Middle School, Founders Park is a recreational neighborhood park with a number of flat, grassy areas, perfect for picnics or days out for families. Founders Park also features a full playground for children and is also the site of Volleyball at Ladera Ranch.
If you’re looking for something a little more off the beaten path, the Ronald W Caspers Wilderness Park offers an enormous explorable park preserve, perfect for camping, exploring and reconnecting with nature. The 8,000-acre park has a number of scenic trails perfect for nature walks as well as 3 different campgrounds perfect for a weekend getaway. Alternatively, the Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park offers guided tours with a park ranger, as well as self-guided hikes, and trails for both biking and horseback riding.
